Chauvet Q-spot 560 LED Profile

Has anyone found any issues with ION and the Chauvet Q-spot 560 LED profile?  Specifically with the gobo wheel landing between gobos when you select any of the images from the ML Control?  I strongly believe this to be a fixture issue and not a profile but I wanted to see if anyone else has experience the same thing.

Cheers

  • Yes This happens often on one of my Six 560 fixtures. I run a command reset and it corrects that. Homing the fixture doesn't work.

That said, My ION will not pan Q-spot 560 fixtures if two or more are selected. The Trainer that came couldn't get them to work either.

Does your rig have that issue?

  • We have tried the global reset.  At first it was working but the fixture would fail and need to be reset.  We replaced one of the fixtures and it worked fine for a while.  The other fixture has been working since the install and just now started to act up.  I have no problems with pan or tilt, just the gobo wheel.

  • Just out of curiosity do you know tha answers to these questions:

    1) Which gobo wheel is acting up. Is it the one with the peppermint colored gobo?   (  That is the only gobo that messes up on mine.)

    2) do your fixtures run 24/7?

    3) do you have more than 32 fixtures on one DMX line

    4) are you using a terminator?

How did you do the global reset?(I'm still relatively new to the ION)

To fix mine, I had to enter the DMX address for the control channel and set the Value to 84% for 3 sec. this causes the fixture to do its own homing of all axis and gobos. that fixes it everyt time for me.

I work for a Chauvet Dealership. If you'd like i can ask my rep if this is a known issue. I always assumed it was just a fluke in my system and that this happens from time to time.

    1) Which gobo wheel is acting up. Is it the one with the peppermint colored gobo?   (  That is the only gobo that messes up on mine.) it is the gobo wheel with rotating gobos.

    2) do your fixtures run 24/7?  No they get cut off after each use

    3) do you have more than 32 fixtures on one DMX line.   No.  15 max

    4) are you using a terminator?  No.  The last fixture in the chain is self terminating.

How did you do the global reset?(I'm still relatively new to the ION.). Select the fixture channel number the select more SK and choose the "lamp controls" soft key then select "fixture global reset". This screen can also be used to strike the lamp and douse.

I work for a Chauvet dealer as well and we have had another client with a similar issue with a different board.  It really seems like an encoder or sensor issue with the fixture, I was just a little concerned with the amount of times this has happened.

  • this is happening about once a month on one of my fixtures.(the other 5 have never acted up)

It is only with the rotating gobo (With the peppermint one) so we are the same there.

Thanks for the reset  tip. I looked all through the manual for a fixture reset and had to do it manually because i couldn't find it.

I'll talk to my rep, Dan Erickson and see if there is a bug or firmware update for the fixture.

If you have more than one Q Spot 560 could you do a test for me:

select all the 560's send to home, then tilt to 90, then try to pan.

Mine will pan really, really, really slow if i select more than one at a time. But if i select them individually they pan normally.

    Thanks

  • The last time I programmed a show at this facility I was able to pan and tilt them at the same time with no speed issue.  I'm in Southeast US.

  • What software version are on your consoles?

Do you use the fixture profile as written or do you edit any of the values in it?

  • Version 2.0.1 and I use the fixture profile.  No editing was needed.  The fixtures both operated as expected at one point then started to act up.  This is why I am led to believe that it is the fixture.

  • I'm also on version 2.0.1

I'm using the ETC fixture profile for the q spot.
