rainbow effect ml controls 2.0

i work with several ion consoles and recently one of them updated to 2.0. When i took control of my 2 DTS jackspots (which are patched with the profile provided by etc) and tried doing the rainbow effect by doing RGB red (or whatever the abbreviation is) or any colors with the abbreviation in front of them and then selecting continuous it would not do the rainbow like in the past. i believe i got it working before but its been a while since then. does anyone have any other methods of making the rainbow effect happen.

thanks,
cam

  • Have you checked to see that the library profile is up to date? I had issues with some Wybron CXI's not showing the correct color after updating software in the past. When I updated the profile they worked correctly. Just note that if you update the profile it could affect any data you have previously stored for those units.

To update fixtures on my ION I go to Patch, click the "Fixtures" bubble on the bottom right of the screen. This will display all fixtures in the current show. Select the fixture you want to check. Near the bottom center of the screen there should be an "Edit" button. Click that, and then in the same area there will be an "Update Lib" button. If the text is white then there is an update for your fixture. If you want to update click it and then confirm that you do indeed want to update the fixture. Just note that if you update the profile it could affect any data you have previously stored for those units.

  • I've had the best luck by creating 3 color palettes: Red, Green and Blue.  I then create a Absolute effect with 3 steps, each step referencing a different color palette.

That should get you a nice color roll.  You can then play with the other parameters to get the fixtures to have all the colors ganged together for or spread out.
