Ion upgrades

The Ion console I am using has not been updated in a long time. I believe the software we are using is 1.4.0 (I know, how embarrassing). My question would be - is it necessary to upload all of the upgrades between our current software and the latest version (+/- 13 upgrades), or do any of the upgrades include previous upgrades? And secondly, what button and or other changes do I need and how do I go about getting them?

    Hi Warren,

    Nothing to be embarrased about! We all have our normal jobs, private lifes, etc etc, that sometimes keeps us from checking if all our equipment is

    update to date. Yes you can download the Eos Family Software v2.0.1 from our website and update straight from your v1.4.0.

    When you download the software, you will be asked which keycaps you have and to fill out an email that gets sent to us.
    Just tell them you have the flat keycaps, and fill in all your shipping information and the serial number from the console,

    and send that email from our website out.

    You will also want to download and install PIXEL Mapping Software from the Ion Downloads page. This is a new virtual pixel mapping

    software that will run on your console and allow you to do cool new things.

    Magic Sheets was also introduced in v2 and allows a topographical layout of your life channels and much more.

    Best to also download the new Ion Manual v2. and check out the Eos v2 Videos on Youtube, so you can see

    about all the new exciting features on the current Ion Software.

    Warren, regarding keycaps - I believe sv 1.4 did not support Tabs in Ion.  So the swap key will be replaced with a Tab key.   Also, we've added a shift key.  The documentation will tell you where those caps go.  As Corey mentioned, you will want to order the full keycap set when you download the software - since we changed the keycap shape..  this is a free cap set.

    Many many things have changed since 1.4.  You will want to take a cruise through the manual.

    Hope this helps.  And thanks for doing the update.    Software updates are safe and easy, but if you have questions, tech service can walk you through the process.  In addition to installing the pix map software, there have also been some firmware updates you'll want to install.  Finally, if you have moving lights in your rig, and are starting with any show files built in 1.4, you'll want to consider updating the library for those units.
