ION Displays

OK, so now that I've got over my VGA/DVI issues I am trying to set up my displays with what I like to see. Can anyone tell me if the following is possible on the ION:

I'd like my VGA display to show me my channel page AND my Cuelist, rather like it does in Single monitor mode. However, my other monitor (a touchscreen) should show me two 5x10 direct select modules and the collapsable CIA.

I guess my main problem is that in a two monitor scenario I can't have the Q list and channel page on the same screen. Is this just not an option at the moment? If so could it be an option in future?

Having got used to our EOS I'm really missing the two built in screens!

Following on from this I'd like to record some snapshots, but haven't come across a Snapshot button as yet. Are Snapshots implemented on ION yet? The snapshot option is there in the record target list, but I don't see anything about them in the manual.

Thanks!!

  • Hi Graham.  Interesting.  At the moment, in a dual monitor system, you can't currently put the live/blind and PSD (playback status display) on the same screen.  To do that, we'd need to turn those two displays into a dockable element, just like all of the virtual controls.  No reason we can't do it.  I see where you are headed though.    Will talk to the GUI gurus.

We didn't implement snapshots on Ion ... and the fact that you can see a snapshot button on your direct select options is because SOMEBODY forgot to suppress them!   Our initial thought was a) didn't seem snapshots were critical on a desk as small as Ion, b) we didn't have any buttons left.  We've been discussing putting them back in, but haven't reached a firm conclusion yet.  We are trying very hard to not exceed two pages of softkeys - and with new functions rolling into 1.4, that is providing to be quite tough to stick to.   So, the jury is still out on snapshots.   Will ponder it some more.

    Thanks much!

     *sigh*

    No cookie for me.

  • I would like to see snapshot be put back into the ION. Since we do not have the touch screens for direct selects, and we do not have a tabbed display, and there are no hard macro keys; snapshot would be a useful function.

I have seen that the virtual direct selects are a useful programming tool on the ION, but they take up so much room on the screen that they are unpractical. If we had a tapped display or a snapshot function that could be used in a few key strokes it seams that the virtual direct selects would become more a useful tool.

On a side note will we ever see a hard/soft set of macro keys? It would be really useful on the ION.
