Updating old showfiles

I often pull year old showfiles and update them, I have in my showfile archive some files that are over five years old. My question is how far back can I pull something from and use with relative ease? I forsee a group coming in that will want to start from a three year old showfile.

Everything should be fine. You cannot go backwards in versions after a certain point, but you should be able to go forward. I have loaded a show from 2008, didn't run anything from it, but did open it no problem.
