Unable to connect PC to Element Board

We downloaded the offline version for our Element. I'm unable to connect to the board, get a ping, and unable to set the IP address manually. I've looked elsewhere to try and get it to work. Anyone have suggestions? I'm running the program off of a Windows 7.

  • Hello, Ziemanc:

I am sorry that you are having issues connecting.

The first step is setting the IP of the computer that is running OFFLINE/CLIENT software.  This IP can be checked in the settings menu of the software, but must be configured through your network setup in Windows 7.  For information on how to configure your IP in Windows, I have found this page very helpful: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-tcp-ip-settings#1TC=windows-7

When setting your IP address, please keep in mind that you want it to be similar to but not the same as the IP of your Element console.  If your Element is 10.101.97.101, perhaps try setting your PC to 10.101.97.201.  Keep in mind that you don't want the IP of your PC to be identical to another IP in the network.  Make sure your subnet is 255.255.0.0.

Once this IP is established and you have a hardwire connection from your Element to your PC, you should be able to ping back and forth.

When using Element Offline as a Mirror for your console, be sure to choose "Element Client" or the software will not think it needs to connect to another device.

I hope this is helpful.  If it isn't please let us know!

If you are able, we may be of more assistance over the phone.  Just call and ask for Technical Support:

  • I've got all that done, but as I ping I have a "Socket Error" message followed by the error number.
