EOS & X-keys XK-60

Hi Cookie.  There is no real way for us to know this without either seeing a keycap from your X-keys or sending us an engineering drawing of the X-Keys assembly.

It takes a standard Cherry MX key.

I found a company that will duplicate a set of EOS keys as Black Cherry MX with transparent letters, so I think I am set.  I had just wondered if anyone had tried this before.

I know the Element keys, which are the same as the Ion keys, fit the regular X-Key boards.  I assume they use the same cherry switches and keycaps in all the X-Key lines except for the clear keys.  Maybe see if ETC will sell a set of keycaps.

The issue is the light pipe JP.  There is a presumption it would work, but the Gio/Ti cap sets are designed as an assembly - unlike simply substituting a cherry keycap for another cherry keycap on a cherry switch.  Might work, might not.  We can't guarantee without seeing the cap.  But it sounds like Brian has found a solution.  Having said that, we'd be interested to get a keycap at some point to see if it would work!

I have a sample XK12 jog and shuttle here at Full Compass which, while a different form factor, uses the same lighted keys.  I would be happy to drop it by for you guys to take a look at if you are interested,

Hey John.  RnD have reviewed the on-line documentation and are pretty certain these won't accept Ti/Gio caps - but since you have a unit, we are happy to test that with a look.  Can you bring the unit to Hans Hinrichsen in Tech Serve?  We should be able to check it out pretty quickly.

Thanks again for dropping by John. To update everyone on what we found - the Gio/Ti keycaps are not compatible with the new X-Keys. The older keys from Eos, Ion, and Element are, but they are not able to be backlit. Cookie - if you have a good experience with that company and would be willing to share, feel free to post back.

Thanks John & Hans for the test.

Once Snowmageddon has passed NY and Barbizon has reopened, I will get my order in for two sets of Eos caps, and send one off to be duplicated as transparent lettering. If they work out I will make sure to post so everyone can get a set if they would like.
