ML Tombstone Change with 2.1?

In the process of upgrading the Ion software between 2.0 and 2.1.  I notice that the tombstones have changed for the moving lights/DMX devices.  There used to be a wavy line between the intensity number and NiP letters at the bottom.

Was this an intentional change?  I didn't see any reference to in the 2.1 or 2.0.1 release notes.

Just Curious.

  • Andrew, JR is right.  But we often make changes to the GUI without documenting those changes specifically.  Screen shots are changed accordingly as manuals are revised.  But if a change doesn't modify how the user interacts with the desk, they are not generally specially called out in the supplements.

    Hope that helps.

  • My question was more of a "why."  And why bother changing the shape of the tombstones?  It would seem pretty trivial.

Also, I just looked at the PDF "Help with Displays, updated for 2.1" and it has graphics of the wavy line ML channel.

  • We are constantly evolving the displays - looking at choices that were made initially and re-evaluating them.  The wavy line was an unnecessary graphic and the flatter shape of the tombstone interrupts your eye less as it moves across the screen.   In the past few years, graphic standards are moving more and more flat, with less shading and a more simple treatment.  The more simple the graphic, the more information in them stands out.  As such, we've been updating the graphics as we have time.  We changed the keyboard a few releases ago, and made changes to the PSD that you probably didn't even notice - but that removed graphical elements that were not needed.  We also changed the shape of ML channels in the table views.  Hope that makes sense.

Will update the displays doc.  Thanks for catching that.
