X keys problem

I have been using a 16 button x key stick on an ion for the past six months.

Last week they just stopped working. The keys are still programmed with their resident memory (I checked on my Mac running parallels) and I have tried the usual stuff of checking the scroll lock.

Does anyone know they would all of a sudden stop working? Nothing in the system has changed.
