New software version 2.1.2

I have just tried to download the new offline software for Mac (v 2.1.2) but when I install the file and run the new software it still seems to be the old software that is running (welcome screen version 2.1.0.9.0.14).

I am trying to patch in some new JB Sparx 7 units, the fixture personalities are in release 2.1.2 but I can't find them despite downloading the new software.

I've even tried downloading onto a PC which has never had any offline software before just in case something is causing it to look back to an older version.

Is it possible that the software download hasn't been updated on the website despite the zip file being given the name of 2.1.2?

  • Could you try downloading the installer again

and installing from a different USB stick - sounds like

    the installer is corrupt.

  • Note that the welcome screen version is not usually the same as the software version. To verify the actual version running, you would need to start the Eos offline and hit the console key "about" (<control> </> on a Mac) and see the software version.

  • Brian is absolutely right.

The version number given in the Welcome Screen is just the version of the Welcome Screen itself, and has no direct relation to the version of Eos software that you have.

Think of it as a "firmware" version. It's not updated every time as it doesn't need to be.

  • Thanks Richard for clarifying. I have checked this and I am running 2.1.2 hurrah!

However, the latest fixture library has the JB Sparx 7 in it, but when I search for it in within the software I've just downloaded I can't find it.

How can I load a new fixture template or fixture library into Ion offline? Or is this something you could email over as a show file that I could load in?

I am fitting up a show on Friday and trying to do a bit of pre plot before hand, hence needing it on the Ion offline. Currently although I'm on a Mac I'm running it on Windows through Parallels.

    Thanks! :)

  • There is a separate installer you can use to update the console library, see the bottom of the Eos downloads page.

You can use this same installer on PC client/offline installs and Eos Family consoles.
Unfortunately the way Mac installation works makes it very difficult to do updates to the Mac library, but as you're in Parallels it'll work just fine.

  • Is anyone else having trouble saving show files with the new software? On several occasions, under several different circumstances, the console has just frozen on the keyboard while attempting to save. Usually it happens while saving to a USB stick. Only way to get it to respond is with a hard reset. I'm on an Ion.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Matty,

This doesn't sound normal, and isn't currently a known issue in the existing software. I'm wondering if there might be something going on with the hardware -- would you be able to get in contact with your local ETC office when you have a chance? They may ask you to save logs and send them in.
