Latency of display on the software installed on the laptop

Hello,

sorry for our english but we are french.

Our problem is just a latency of display when we write a command, this command appears at about 3 or 30seconds after we write it.

For example :

1 @ 5 enter

The channel 1 goes at 50% on stage but the command line is empty and write that after waiting 3 or 30 seconds.

Can U help us, did it happen to someone else and because of what ???

Thanks

  • Hi Hans,

Thank U for your answer but actually, we wanted to try on another computer to be sure that it came from the software. But we are at present in production and we did not have time to make this try.

So we'll try as soon as possible this solution, but we just try to have some answers of anybody who's got the same problems.

On the network, we link the etc node, our IES dimmers with 3switch managed Netgear with Vlan for the lights and vlan for the sound.

The 2 gigabit slots  of each switch (one by floor of the theatre) are linked on a fourth gigabit switch managed for the vlan.

And we have tried without the switches, just from the console to the laptop, and we've got the problem too.

At the beginning, we thought that our problem came from the wifi, cause we were using the wifi box to manage the console from the laptop, but after we tried with a cable, it was the same. So we decided to try directly from the console : Unsuccessfully !!!

  • Hi Electros,

If you do have a chance to try the other computer after the production, it would definitely provide useful information.

It's definitely helpful to know that connecting from the console to the laptop directly has the same result. One thing to try would be to add a simple 5 port 10/100 network switch between the two devices to see if that helps.

Finally, would you be able to save logs after this happens again? Pull logs from both the console and the laptop. We can definitely see if we can spot any problems from the console side. You can send those to me at hh <at> etcconnect <dot> com.

    Thanks!

    Hans

  • Hello Hans,

    Thanks for your interest.

But as we say in the first message, our english is very limited. And we dont understand : "to save logs after this happens again. Pull logs..." .

Do you know the french technical word for Log ? or maybe try to explain how would you do that ?

    Sorry, thank U

  • Hi,

I just send U an email with the Zip files from the PC and the desk.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I come back to you because the problem is worse and worse!

Indeed, this morning we used the laptop computer in WiFi connected with the main writing desk.

It synchronized every 2 minutes, on average, with sometimes failures!

Please find attached the file logs of the laptop computer.

    Cordially

  • I'm sorry to hear that the issues are continuing.

Looking at the logs, there is indeed a very long delay between commands received by the console and the network devices. The Gio console is not seeing the lag - it's processing commands as soon as it sees them. Have we tried a different computer, or a different network cable? Do we get different results?

    Thanks!

    Hans
