Firing midi cues with FL Studio Midi out to sync song. [Board not detecting midi?]

So I posted a year ago in regards to syncing songs with midi cues via my laptop. http://www.etcconnect.com/Community/forums/p/9610/38387.aspx#38387

I finally got around to it this year and bought a usb to midi adapter on amazon and I'm using FL studio 11 with a third party app called midi mapper x. (I have access to ableton if needed, however I don't know how to use it)

I mapped the board to recieve midi only and connected to my computer. FL Studio detects it as usbmidi 2.0 and I set the output on it to port one, and setting the msc recieve on the board as 1. (Midi cue list is blank, should i put a value like 1 in it?)

The program setup looks like this. http://puu.sh/8ctae/2c3c31d967.png.

I am currently using an ETC ION lightboard running the latest firmware if i recall correctly.

I send the hex code to the board however the board isn't changing cues or changing the master to 50% as the code states. I even tried to change the code to say send to all devices (I assume the board is device 1 as it's the only board on the network.)

Anyone have experience with sending MSC like this? Thanks.

1. Are the codes always in this format? Someone stated that there are direct commands, I only need the GO command.

2. Maybe I should try using String MIDI TX? Will that work over the usb to midi cable?

[I will take more pictures of the setup when I get back to the board later today]

Thanks in advance.

  • i can't see all of the hex strings, is there 00 7F after 3C?

and you put this into a columns that's called Note On. i don't know your software, but midi notes are something different. MSC is a kind of SysEx, maybe you have a column like that?

the diagnostics tab (Displays > Browser > Utilities > Diagnostics) does show midi that is being sent, maybe it also shows midi it's receiving?
