Fader wing SOLO button

I have installed a 2x20 Fader wing on my ION and it is working as expected for most things.  However, the SOLO buttons don't do anything.  Is ther a setup option I have missedÉ
  • The solo button is currently unimplemented.  In 1.4, it is no longer (unimplemented) solo - but has two different functions.  1.4 will be released in May.  So watch this space!

  • So now that 1.4 (and 1.4.1) is out, what exactly is the Solo button supposed to do?

I notice if the fader is set to Additive mode and is completely down, the Solo button selects the Group of the mapped sub.  If the fader is at 1% or higher, the Solo button appears to do nothing.  I also observed that the Solo button does the opposite if the Sub is set to Inhibitive mode.  It only selects the group if the Fader is at FL.

If that button would always select the group, no matter what the position of the fader, this would be INCREDIBLY useful, especially for Ion users, as it would alleviate the need for a Group Direct Select to quickly select channels and groups for editing. This would open up screen space for other Direct Select categories.

  • My understanding is the "solo" button is, as you noted,  a sub group selection when the fader is at 0 (or full for inhibs).  When the fader is in any other position, this button then becomes an "assert" for that sub.

I agree that it would be useful if the solo key could be used as a "sub group" selection tool, thereby alleviate the need for goups on DirSels.  Could this be a user option perhaps?

    Cheers
