ION fader wing / submasters

Hi,

I am new to the Ion (nice desk!)

I have recorded scenes to submasters on the fader wing, and these work ok indivually, but if I bring a second sub up along side the first, it cross fades over to the sub you are currently operating? I guess I have set something up incorrectly here.

Any help please!

  • Are these scenes with moving lights or LED's?  or just conventionals?  If they are comprised of intelligent fixtures, they may be responding to LTP (latest takes precedence)...

  • Hi,

Yes, it is a bunch of LED pars, with R, G, & B on 3 separate subs. You bring up red, the add some blue or green from another sub, and it brings down the red as you go up? What should it be set too, for all subs to overlay each other please?

  • There have been a few posts about this in the past, and some of them may explain this better than I can, but here goes:

When you record a submaster on an Ion unless you specify otherwise ALL of the parameters for the fixture are recorded into the submaster.  You can tell the console that you only want to record  a certain parameter into the sub, and that will help resolve the issue- but the other values will remain at their "home" state unless you also tell the console otherwise.

So, you start by recording one parameter at a time into the sub: Channel [x] {Red} [Record] [Sub] [1] [Enter] .

Since you already recorded the subs you can edit them in blind.  Choose the sub from the sub list and then choose {Edit}.  Now select the channels and say {Green}[+]{Blue} [At] [Enter].  Now the other color information is removed.

If your fixture homes color values to full (grey 100 in the color parameter tiles) then you will also need to remove this information if you wish to mix.  You can do this two ways- creating a Home Preset that will set those values to zero, or by editing the profile you are using to have home values of 0.

I hope that helps and doesn't further confuse things.

    Thank you!

  • Thanks Sasha, its obvious, and how all the desk desks work!

    Thanks for your help
