Ion - Effects on Faders

Is this feature currently possible on the Ion? I've checked the manual and I haven't found anything reguarding effects on faders, aside from putting the effect in a cue and applying that to a virtual fader.

One other issue I am having, when I boot up the Ion it is turning on lights even though when it was shutdown no lights were on.

  • Hi Anne

I am just checking if you can now load a chase effect onto a submaster or fader . If so what would the syntax be?

    Thanks

  • TRex is correct.  At present, the best way to achieve this is to record the effect into a seperate cuelist and place the cuelist on a handle.

eg; you want effect 1 on Ch 1 > 10.  Firstly, make sure the chans have an intensity.  If you want the chans to be at 0 with the effect running over the top, put the chans in at 01% (I'll explain why in a minute) [1 thru 10 @ 01 enter]

Lets say you want effect 1 running over chans 1 > 10 [1 thru 10 effect 1 enter].

you then want to record this into new cuelist.  Lets say, cuelist 2. [1 thru 10 record 2/1 enter]

from here, bring up the blind cue list [cue cue].  Change the fader setting on the cuelist to [I-master].  This makes the fader behave as an intensity master - similar to say a Hog2.  This is why you need an instensity value recorded into the cue, otherwise when you trigger the cuelist, it will fade the effect in over the cue time.

Load the cuelist onto a handle and you should be ready to go.  This process worked for me a little while ago.  Some variables that you may have to change (my memory is a bit hazy here...) - Firstly, you might need to set the effect entry/exit time to "cue" for this to work.  Maybe not though...

In the above example, I was using a liner effect over intensities - not sure how other types of effects will behave, or how liner effects on NP's will work - have a play around.

Another thought I just had on how you could do this - leave the cuelist fader setting as {proportional} and set the cue time to manual.  Again, have a play and see what happens

     Hope that helps.

  • Hi Brent

    Thanks for your reply.

I think the R and D guys need to look at this. For a small to medium size theatre or general purpose venue such as Durban City Hall they want to run basic one night things on the fly so to speak. By loading chases and similar things onto a sub would make a lot of sense as its a very easy way of bringing up an effect without much difficulty especially when you havent a proper cue sheet to work from.
