offline files

Hi Jeff!

In the folder on your laptop where you installed the offline software, for example "C:\Programs\ETC\Eos\" on a windwows computer  there should be a folder "ShowArchive"

You can copy all files and folders from your Showarchive - folder on the external drive to this folder. All Information to a show is in a single showfile, so it should work. I practice this in that way and never had a problem.

as long as it's a standard usb hard drive, you should be able to load from it directly. plug it in, wait some seconds to give it time to be mounted and then it will turn up in the browser in the File > Open dialog. choose a file from your external hard drive. you will get to a dialog with lots of tiles. those are categories you want to be loaded. by default all are grey ( = on ), ensuring that you get all your information. the only thing that's not loaded are the information from park.

but of course, for a more permanent solution (i.e. having your showfiles without the need for the external drive), just follow Reinhard's solution.

Hey guys. Thanks bunches. Yep I want to get it all on the laptop so I don't have to rely on the drive.

Add: there is no folder ShowArchive anywhere on my Windows 7 laptop so I created a new folder in the ETC / EOS program file where the offline software is launched and named it ShowArchive. I then pasted all my files in that folder and they all showed up when I launched the offline software. Not sure when that folder is created but it's there now. Hope it doesn't create any problems later, but then if it does I can always move everything.

start your offline editor, load a showfile and then save. there might be an error that the program doesn't have writing permissions for this directory. you could then have your ShowArchive directory in MyDocuments, for example.

All is well. I've been working on the new show file and saving it, but of course after I manually created the ShowArchive folder. I think the original problem with not finding a ShowArchive is there was never a show file saved. So I'm guessing when the first show is saved that's when the offline editor creates the folder. Since I already manually created it everything seems to be good.
