RFU Antenna Broke

Are you talking about on the remote itself or on the receiver?

I use an antenna from a router on my rfu because it seems to increase my range to the whole theatre.

I would be cautious adding non ETC gear to the remote, different antennas are going to change the SWR (standing wave ratio) and may cause the transmitter to burn out sooner due to the impedance not being the same.  Outside of that, you may find that other antennas offer a higher DB gain over the stock ETC antenna.
