I am doing a tour that requires 6 different show files, some very close to the same and some quite different. I have created a base line show file w/o any cues yet and built a Magic Sheet for it. It was MS #14.. I then saved that show file in the other 5 names on my ION. I then opened a new MS (#15) in the second show and named it for that show. I then opened the base line MS (#14) and went into the edit page, highlighted some of the items I wanted in the second show file MS (#15) and did a "copy to" and entered the second show file MS number 15. When I opened the second MS (#15) the whole base line MS #14) was there. That was ok, I just edited what I needed to edit and saved the show file however I was surprised. I would have thunk only what I had highlighted would have copied.
One of the venues we will be performing at I already have in my ION console with a MS (#2) also, but I will be adding lighting to it for the particular show. So I opened the show file that I had previously saved as one of the 5 base lines and I created a new blank MS #16. I happened to have all my MS's in that show file, so I opened the existing venue MS #2, opened the edit page, highlighted all, did a copy to and selected MS #16. Now I had the existing venue MS in a new location. Next I opened the base line MS (#15), selected the fixtures I wanted to add to the existing MS (#2), used Copy To again, entered the new blank MS number 16 and hit enter. When I opened the new MS (#16) it was completely replaced by the whole base line MS. Not a trace of the existing venue information.
So my question: how to selectively copy and paste an individual item or items from one MS to another? There's no Control C and Control V on a console.
