Patching dimmers as a Generic RGBA fixture?

I have a set of 4-cell tungsten cyc floods, coloured red, blue, green and amber.  Is there any way to patch the dimmers as a "virtual" RGBA fixture?  Sadly, because of some loading and cabling issues I can't assign consecutive dimmers to them.  Is it possible to have a "fixture" with non-consecutive dmx addresses?

  • If you look in Custom fixtures you'll see Red, Green, Blue and Amber 8B fixtures, patch these as 4 parts to your channel with the correct dimmer on each part.

You'll then need to add a fifth part with is the Generic RGBA fixture which doesn't need an address. By patching this fifth part you'll be able to use the colour picker and I think the virtual intensity will now work.

  • I think I just did this and it didn't seem to work. I have the RGBA channels all assigned, and then Part 5 is a "Generic LED RGBA 8B"...but no colour mixing.  It responds to the intensity, but doesn't respond to the colour commands.   Am I missing a step?  If I don't assign the Generic fixture I get controls for RGBA that work, but no convenient colour wheel to choose from.

EDIT:  I've fixed it.  Turns out you need to give the RGBA LED Fixture that doesn't really exist an address, so I just dumped it in the 500s of universe 4 (which I don't currently use.)

  • just tried it myself. only works when you assign an address to part 5 as well. just send it to universe 50 or something you don't use.
