Nomad Mouse Wheel as a Level Wheel

For Nomad, It is possible to make a setup item to change the control of the mouse wheel as a level wheel instead of zoom.

There are some changes coming in 2.3 which should help. I don't think intensity on a mouse wheel is a good idea as this would impact all consoles and could be very dangerous!

Many PC Software for Lighting (e.g. LXConsole, NTXOffline, Horizon, StrandNeo) have this feature as a standard, why should it be a problem?

Stefan, Can you be a bit more specific regarding when you would want the mouse wheel to control level? I expect the mouse wheel to scroll the view I am hovering over. Thanks, Dennis

I think that a level wheel function should not depend on the mouse position or selected tab, long as the mouse is inside the application window. Maybe that SHIFT (or CMD or ALT or CTRL) + Mousewheel will activate the LevelWheel functionality. It should also possible to control parameters when selected. staub

I agree with Stefan and think (as a "shifted"-function) that would be great for Nomad. And the way he mentioned in his last post it´d be safe also.
Hope ETC´ll agree with him too...

There was no change to the mouse wheel in 2.3 but you should check out the options OSC now give you.

Just wondering if there is any news on this issue? While the Nomad system is affordable, it has three shortcomings:
No faders (touch screen can deal with this in some respects and a fader wing would sort it, but is quite expensive)
No encoders (various ways around this with different screen layouts)
No level wheel (major disadvantage)

I think the mouse wheel would be a great alternative, even if it could be activated by Shift, ctrl or Alt.

OSC opens up the ability for us to have all three things you are looking for. I have built encoders, faders, and a level wheel all using Arduino processors and OSC to talk to the console/computer. ETC has given us the ability to build inexpensive accessories for the console.

A hardware wheel give us a better haptic feeling, than a virtual wheel and you need no extra iPad and software for it. Parameter can changed in the ML tab with the mouse wheel, hover the mouse over the parameter wheel you want to edit and scroll. Hope we get this possibility also for the channel display.

When I'm speaking of OSC accessories I have built physical encoders, faders, and level wheel. You can use OSC in apps but you can also use it with micro controllers or other processors to build hardware accessories.

If you mean can you use oscRFR with Nomads running on a PC then yes.

If you mean can you run oscRFR on a PC then no as its an iPhone/IPad app or an Android app (although i suppose if you really really wanted to you might be able to run in an Android emulator on a PC but that's not a realistic use)
