Ion as a EOS remote?

I am interested in having an ION as a stage board that is plugged into our EOS network.(EOS, RVI, RFR, laptop w/client)
I see from the ION page it states:

Use Ion in a stand-alone system or as a remote programming station for an Eos system. When Ion is used as a client in an Eos system, it supports the full output of that host Eos system.

If I understand correctly if I  plug the ION into the EOS networks can I see the EOS show/patch etc? If I saved that information as a show on the ION could I then play back show cues using just the ION? I want to use ION as a stage programmer but also have the ability to play some cues back on the ION if need be. Will that work?

Thanks

  • This year in the light lab at the USITT conference we had the eos a client of the ion. Why we did it that way is a long story.  It worked really well, for one session we needed an operator on each board, one doing cues and one bringing up channels. At one point an encoder failed on the eos and the ion operator picked it up seamlessly.
