Nomad Mouse use

I am using Nomad on my Puter but no touch screen.....wanting to get a bit more functionality out of my mouse.

1. can I scroll across in Moving Light Control Window using scroll wheel.

2. can i use scroll wheel on Mouse to increase intensity, like the intensity wheel on Console.

3. Can i use the mouse scroll wheel to change colors.

  • When you position the mouse pointer over an encoder in ML control, the mouse wheel will work on that encoder
  • I know, That is the same behavior on console......What i want to do or maybe it can be added in an update is scroll across if pointer is not on an encoder. In ML control tab window, all parameters are not visible, and i want an easier way to scroll across. Similarly, If I choose a fixture in Magic Sheets or Live Table, i want to be able to just use scroll wheel on mouse to affect intensity. maybe a like a control + Scroll sequence may be possible to add in an update if it doesnt already exist some other way
  • ML Controls are being worked on in 2.3.

I'm against adding intensity and other parameters on the mouse scrolls wheel because this will need to work across all the consoles and RPU's. This is fine for Nomad but when I have 9,000+ parameters on a RPU I don't want the someone walking up to a RPU selecting channel/groups etc etc and using the scroll wheel and bring a lot of the rig up.

It's a great idea for Nomad but doesn't scale well for me. I'm hoping the team will implement better options to make things quicker on Nomad

  • yeah, its really for Nomad use im asking for. On the consoles it isnt necessary as there is a scroll wheel on the console.
  • Not sure if this answers your question, but I have been experimenting with a trackball mouse and it appears that if go to the virtual faders screen (or the ML screen) and hold the right mouse button and roll the ball, it acts like a wheel on the console. I have a touch screen but it is not reliable enough for use in a live situation, so I will be pursuing this option. The only issue is that I am using a borrowed Microsoft trackball mouse and when I looked them up on the web, they are crazy expensive. However, I hope a cheaper one will do the same trick.
