so is there a point in the future when software updates won't be recommended for non-win 7 systems, or are you guys planning on supporting older systems for the foreseeable future?

We are planning to support Win XP for the foreseeable future.  Functions that are designed to take advantage of multi-touch displays generally have a "mouse supported" operation on XP.    I can't promise you this will be forever.  But in looking at the upcoming years and the features on the boards, we have no plans to make them Win 7 only.

Anne, I just spoke to Tech Services and they said Eos is not eligible for the Windows 7 upgrade. Is it "just for now" that it will not upgrade or is there something about the console that makes it where it can't ever be upgraded? Steve Martin

Hi Steve. Unfortunately, there are no Windows 7 drivers available for the internal touch screens on Eos Classic (same is true of Congo Sr). Am sorry -- I wish I had a different answer, and I know this has been disappointing for some people. Best, Anne

Somewhere recently (Facebook?) I believe you mentioned the XP consoles will not be able to display the Manual on tab 100 (once we get the Manual back in 2.6) due to limitations. The Win 7 consoles will of course.

Did I get that right? I'm composing an email to sell the idea of having our Theatre's ETC element (XP) upgraded to Windows 7 Embedded and I want to include all the reasons I can...

If you have any other reasons I can include beyond getting the upgrade to Windows® 7 Embedded Standard, which includes new hardware (new motherboard, new SSD solid state drive, etc…) I'll take them.

Are there any warranty advantages as well? We're in Atlantic Canada so the upgrade will be done by Field Services .ca

Hi there. Yes, you did read that correctly. Tab 100 (documentation) is actually expected to come into 2.7 and will only be viable on Windows 7 consoles. The upgrade package does include a new motherboard, SSD and a complete checkout of the hardware and includes an extended warranty. Moving to Win 7 enables use of multi-touch monitors.

I'm wondering about the element Windows 7 upgrade. I have a console in a venue that has an element 500 60. It's only reporting 250 channels and tech support believes the motherboard or dongle is failing because the upgrade key won't work. I noticed with the element 2 that it had a max 4 universes instead of 2 and wonder if that follows on the element 1 upgrade?

Hi there. No, it doesn't. Element is still 2 universes, even with a Win 7 upgrade.
