2.2 Clickable Field and Frame Focus

Hello,

Just a request/question for the group Since 2.2, many more fields have been made cliakble/ touchable to make editing quicker. I understand the need/want for this, but I have one request. Can a frame's contents not be clickable until it has been brought into focus? With up to 4 frames per screen and 5 screens, you can have a lot of tabs open at once. This means now where I used to use the keyboard to open / move focus to a tab (PSD, Color palette list, Macro list etc) now those are always open and always in view so to get to that screen / mode, I'll either touch or click that frame to bring focus.

The problem I'm having is that I have to be very careful about where I click, especially in the PSD. Especially when I'm in the Assistant/Associate role and I should not be changing anything on the console other than my views.

I mistakenly block or assert or preheat a cue, or put an attribute time into the command line. While I understand that I can change to that frame by clicking the tab at the bottom, I guess my general thinking is that I should not be able to grab the contents of a screen until I've brought that screen to focus. I've tried clicking at the top of the PSD above the actual cue sections, but it seems the whole column, even above the lable is sometimes a hot area.

Could we go back to like it was before things were clickable where you would have to touch the screen to bring focus and then were able to  page up page down, or whatever action you wanted to take on that screen.

Maybe I'm off here and I just need to be more careful, but I thought I would toss it out there just in case.  Or maybe its been mentioned before and I just missed it.

Thanks

  • That's on the list and actually very high up from what I know. Work around is either only click the tab's tab or use [Tab]& number to change focus
  • I´m not shure if I got that right but wouldn´t that mean that direct selects wouldn´t be very comfortable to use any more?! Now I´m in Tab one on an external screen for example where I select a Varilite. Now I want to bring it to Preset 1 via pressing the direct select on my EOS/GIO internal Display. Would the suggested change mean I would have to hit the direct select button twice - one time to bring it to Focus and one time to press the button - and then press tab one again to bring that to Focus again?
