Problems with aRFR connection and lag...router problem?

Hey everyone.  We are having issues connecting to our Ion with the aRFR app.

Sometimes we can connect to the wireless router right away without problems, but other times (most of the time) the phone attempts to connect, but never does.  When we are able to connect, everything works great, but after about 5 minutes of use there is a significant lag.  I can type in a command and 20 seconds later it will actually execute.  This will happen on all of our devices: laptops, iPad, and cell phones.

What could be the problem?  Is this a wireless router issue?

Thanks.

  • It is generally best to use a Wireless Router, rather than a Wireless Access Point as the Router will block all the sACN (and other DMX-over-Ethernet) levels from going onto the radio by default

If your WiFi box has a "WAN" port, it's a Router and you can connect your console network to that WAN port.

If your WiFi box does not have a "WAN" port, then you can only use it as an Access point.
Depending on the model it may be possible to block the multicast sACN, you'd need to check the manual for your particular unit.
