Ion slow to boot

For the last couple days our Ion running version 2.2.0.9.0.96 has been slow to boot up.

it says DHCP...  for a couple minutes then

PXE-E53 : No boot filename received
PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel Boot Agent
and then everything seems to be fine after that.
Should I be worried? how do I fix this?
Thanks, Jamie

  • The console is trying to boot from network before booting from the hard disk.
We use this network boot in manufacturing, then disable it before testing and shipping as it's no longer required.

It has no effect once the console is running.
However, as you've seen, it does slow down the initial boot because it's searching for our manufacturing servers. After a while it realises they aren't there and boots from the hard disk as normal.

To turn it off, go into the BIOS and "Load Optimised Defaults".
This will return the console's BIOS settings to the correct ETC values.

Finally, look at the "LAN Option ROM" BIOS setting and confirm that it is Disabled.
(There are some older Ion consoles where the BIOS Optimised Defaults turn this on by mistake.)

If you're unsure about this then give your local ETC Tech Service a call and we'll talk you through it.
