Nomad EOS Bumps

First time using Nomad. Have my subs assigned to faders. There are two buttons below each fader; assert and bump. How do we configure them. Mainly the bumps to be able to turn on and off a sub when pressing and releasing it? I tried the Hold Vs Man but that doesn't do it.

  • A problem I have had with ETC for a long time is how they keep coming out with manual supplements instead of just updating the one manual. Things get so confusing and lost with various documents on one topic. Also can't always find things easily on their site and end up having to find them from a post from ETC where they are. So I have no idea where to get a 2.0.0 Nomad EOS manual. The ION 2.0.0 user manual, which I assume is actually an EOS Family except Element, manual has nothing to do with bumps on page 294. So could you possibly direct me that link please. Thanks.

  • The Eos Family 2.0.0 manual & the 2.2 supplement are the only two documents you need. They are located on the Nomad product page.

What type of a fixture is it? If you push and hold bump, does the fixture turn on? How about in live?

  • I have one fixture (Chauvet Freedom Hex4 LED Par) recorded as a different color on each submaster. When I bring up each sub the fixture snaps to the color and the intensity rises with the fader until full, both on screen and live. When I hit the bump the screen shows everything happening EXCEPT intensity. The intensity box remains blank (not even zero, blank) and the fixture does not turn on. I am using it live. I just want to flash the fixtures on and off from one to the next.
  • When you open the sub list ( sub sub ), for the sub that's not working, does it say 0 up, 0, 0 down? If so, the middle 0 is the problem, it needs to be changed to manual. [Sub] x {Manual} [Enter].
  • It's not a submaster set to be an Intensity Master, is it?
  • I have set them to both IM and proportional. Neither worked.
  • I have tried both hold and man. neither worked. Again the big problem I am experiencing is when I hold it down, whether set to hold or man or 030 or IM or Proportional, there is no output. The intensity box just stays blank. The sub does work because when I bring it up the fixture outputs light as it should all the way to full. But when I use the bump nothing emits. I see the color palette generate, just no output. Could it be something also related to no color showing on the MS? Possibly because there are no H, S and Brightness parameters. Boy, can't wait until it gets into the library. :-)
  • Jeff send me your showfile along with the channel and the submaster and I can tell you what is going on. josh.selander at etcconnect.com
  • Josh, I was using various fixtures that all responded the same way on the subs however one was a Chauvet Freedom Hex4 LED par that I could never get built correctly. Don't know if you have been following that post or not. Because of time and the event is over I have not had a chance to work on building it the way other individuals have recently suggested so it's still incorrect. I also can't figure out how to attach the show file to this reply :-( Tried to copy it and paste it but paste is greyed out. I did wonder if the way it is built might be why when I press the bump on the subs it is recorded to the intensity does not work however I just took a few minutes to open it again and remembered one person mentioned imaster vs proportional. They were set at imaster and when I changed them to prop they seemed to work. Wasn't able to connect a fixture to test, but it shows FL on my screen when the bump is pressed so that is probably where the problem existed. Not sure why imaster would keep a bump from bumping something at full. While I am on this reply I might mention I discovered one other thing that I don't understand and was going to post separately: The Freedom Hex4 fixtures can be controlled using an iPhone, Pad, etc. using the Chauvet FlareCon Air WiFi controller and setting them to that mode. They are pretty bright when doing so. I ran only 4 of them that way and 4 of them with Nomad DMX for the event and noticed when they were running on DMX the intensity at full appeared to be at least 1/2 as bright as when running with my iPhone WiFi. Again, might be because of the incorrect way I built them in the console, but they are set at range 0 - 255 so don't know. If I could figure out how to attach the show file you could look at that. Since the event I have not had time to technically confirm it but it sure looked that way, especially running them UV. The 4 that were on through DMX just barely lit up reflective UV items in the room but the 4 that were on through WiFi iPhone light up the whole room. The other colors also appeared really dim through DMX in comparison to WiFi.
  • Got it all worked out. After designing the fixture properly the intensities are correct and the bumps work. Thanks for all the help.
