ION Magic Sheet not showing fixture colors

Had to build Chauvet Freedom Hex4 LED pars until Library adds them. So far so good. All seem to be working properly however in the Magic Sheet I have them selected to show fill color based on fixture color and they don't do that. Any suggestions or is that because I built them and they can't do that?

  • Do they have hue and sat as parameters? That's where the console takes the color from. Do other fixtures show the color in magic sheets? If not, go to setup, show and turn on Create virtual HSB
  • They are the only ones that won't show the colors. I checked and discovered they do not have Hue, Saturation or Brightness and I have absolutely no idea how to add those since they really aren't dmx information. Well I can add them but they add dmx info also and that can't be deleted. I've always just seen that added automatically.
  • What other color parameters do they have? When you have red green blue it should be added along with the last one of the three...
  • they are rgbawuv and I have completed all 12 channels in the build. I don't know what you mean by your last statement. I'm sure you are correct stating because they are missing H, S and B they won't show colors. I just don't know how to add those properly to do what they need to do.
  • You could rebuild them by copying a generic RGB fixture and that would give you the Virtual Hue Sat values you are looking for.
  • Thanks for that. Actually that's one of the many things I tried. Here's what's weird. There are some attributes in each of the fixture in question channels that have many divisions in them; one has 21. So setting up the fixture isn't a quick thing. I made a copy of at least 5 fixtures that were led's and that had those 3 added on attributes I need. After each of the first several attempts when I was done I noticed those 3 attributes were gone. Scratching my head I intentionally started doing one thing at a time very meticulously, paying attention to every detail and when done, those three attributes were still gone. I then noticed that the fixture in question has Dimmer as it's first channel. Well there really isn't a "dimmer" attribute so I picked Intensity. I noticed that when I did that, the three attributes disappeared. So I made one using Dimmer Curve in channel one and they remained. I thought I was finally on the right track. Each time I edited a copy of a fixture I had to type all the data and ranges for every attribute and when those last 3 were gone every time I was getting pretty frustrated. So finally I was able to do it and save it by using Dimmer Curve instead of Intensity on channel one. Wellll getting curious I made a copy of that fixture and opened the edit of the copy. It still had those 3 attributes at the end. I then changed Dimmer Curve to Intensity and yep, those last 3 attributes went away again; therefore confirming that was the problem all along. Once I did that of course I didn't need a "copy" of the good one, so I deleted that copy and when I opened the edit of the one I saved that had Dimmer Curve in Channel 1 and had the 3 attributes at the end, this time they were once again gone. I gave up. There is some secret to putting those very important attributes at the end when needed WITHOUT any DMX data and I have no idea how to do that. Phew. Hours lost on that one.
  • scratching my head as well...

i went to patch, fixtures, new, edit, and added parameters. intens was already there, then i aded red, added green, added blue. after blue the console added hue sat brightness . then i went on and added amber, added white, added uv. exited, copied, edited again, and all worked as expected. we seem to be doing something differently.

    you're on 2.2.1 as well?

  • I really appreciate input, especially when it confirms my lack of brain matter. I am right in the middle of the event this week that I needed these fixtures for so won't have time to go back over it but when I do I will let you know. In the mean time they work doing what I need without the colors showing on the Magic Sheet. I can say that I don't remember Intens automatically populating then adding below it when I created a new fixture. however that was first attempts. When I made a copy of an already existing fixture Intens was not the first on the list on any of them I picked so I had to redo all of the parameters and that one was what caused those 3 to disappear when I changed whatever it was to intens and they would not go away when I made it Dimmer Curve. But I will get back to you after this event is done. Thanks so much. It's always a big learning curve for me. :-(
