Universe Memory

Request for when you're patching, could Eos remember what universe you've been patching to, so that you don't have to reenter it every time. i.e., You patch 157@ 4/23. The next fixture you patch, after you push @, it would autofill with 4/ Same thing with using Address on the command line in Live.

  • Both are interesting ideas.

Jason's suggestion is good, because its something that only needs to be done when you want to switch back to EDMX.   It's one of those things that you'd need to KNOW though; you wouldn't find it out by "self discovery."  It also seems to me that @ @ has baggage from our legacy products, but I can't recall offhand what that baggage is.

Prefacing with a "/" is good.... users would figure it out pretty easily.  But it adds a keystroke to every command when patching to the same universe. But it triggered another thought (and this is how development works!!)....

We could think of EDMX values as Universe zero.  So, 3 @ 0 / nnn resets to using EDMX.  Too obtuse?   Other thoughts out there?

By the way, whatever we devise, it gets reset when you exit patch or abort address mode!

    Thanks, as always!

  • I think I would like:

When you put a universe in, it keeps that until you specify a different one. Like recording cues in Live. As soon as you say [At] or {Address}, it populates with 4/ or whatever as a reminder to you.

If you want to work in EDMX/direct, you clear out the 4/ and type in the number. Then it defaults to EDMX until further notice.

I would also want the universe selector buttons to show which universe is currently selected and show 1-512 in each box, with "used" values in gray.
