Light Wright 5 or 6

I'm considering purchasing Lightwright 5 or 6 and I'm looking for some feedback. I program maily LED's and Moving Lights for short term (3-6 month) projects and 1-3day commercials. Most of my prgramming is done on Ion or MA2 consoles and I run PC laptops for my offline work.I dont do long term projects, or theater events.  I'm open to other programs if anyone has any suggestions.

Looking forward to you replies.

Thanks

  • Check out the LXSeries. There is LXFree which I use with students and LXBeams with more advanced features. Works really well on Mac and there is a Java based version that I've read works well on PCs. The main program is 2d drafting with enough 3d for section views and basic visualization. There are many shortcuts specific to light plots that make it fast and simple to learn especially for students just moving from hand drafting, (or us old folks who have done way too much hand drafting). Reports output all the paperwork and can easily be copied to Excel, although I rarely need to. Part of the package is LXConsole which acts as a light desk, but can also output a patch as ASCII which can be imported to the Ion Nomad offline. It makes patching the Ion almost instant. I hear that also works for the MA2 and other desks that can import ASCII. A special note is the developer is very responsive and is continuously adding features based on input from users.

  • I downloaded LX on Java and its perfect. Simple, easy and has everything I need. Thanks for the suggestion.
