Magic Sheet - Cue List

Is there anyway to make an item in a Magic sheet into a Cue List?  If not is there any way this could be added?  I can think of a myriad of ways that this would be useful, and would actually make me use Magic sheets a lot more than I do now.  Let me know!

  • Do you mean that you want to have a GO button for your cue list? You can have a GO button in the magic sheet to play cues back.
  • I want to be able to select an item and have it "be" a cue list. For instance I want it to be "Cue 400/". I would like it to display info such as lables, and ideally i would like to me able to hit that "button" and have it go to cue next.
  • You could build a magic sheet chock full of green GO buttons, each one a macro that calls up each and every cue you might have in the cue list. You can add any text desired as into the buttons as descriptive text as to what the cue does and when. You would be limited as to the real estate on the touch screen (I assume a TS). Only issues I see would be feedback as to when the cue completes as well as how to get to any additional pages of MS required for cues that don't fit on page 1, as example.

Can you expand on what you are trying to achieve ?. I can actually see a use for this for events using cue as the live playback and needing to skip around the list in random order. Would be faster then keying in "Go to Cue, XX, Time, XX, Enter"

  • steve, to get to additional pages you could change either the view, the MS, the MS and its view or a snapshot from within either an MS object or from a macro
  • Recall It's not my idea !, but yes, there are all kinds of methods, I just haven't played around yet.

At the OP, I just created a quickie MS that would do what I might have a need, the ability to run cues out of any sequence just by pushing a screen button. I have not spent a lot of time on this, it's a work in progress, but might clean it all up and use it next week.

As BTW, how do you add a jpeg on this site ?.

  • Thanks for sending this on. I think there are some cool things that could be accomplished similar to this, although it is not quite what I am trying to do here. I would like to have one single button that I could potentially make the entire size of a window. I would like to be able to hit this button to advance to the next cue. The reason I would like it to be so big is I would like to have the Label displayed in the box nice and big with no distractions. With that much real estate I can make the label quite long with instructions when to hit go for the next cue. We use a similar method now with the normal List display but would like to find something that visually stands out and eliminates some human error.

The only way I could figure out how to do this is to create a separate magic sheet for every single cue and create a macro which loads that sheet. I would worry about this working smoothly, but it also is way more work than I would, shall we say enjoy. I also feel like being able to define and reference specific, (and different) cue lists would be enormously helpful. I could find a myriad of ways to use different lists at the same time in this visual format.

Does this make sense? Please note that I run a master list in the background and I need that to not be effected. as it is the safety for the entire show.

Perhaps I can redefine the master list playback to something other than Cue 0 and then make the Specific list I am trying to work with cue 0? I am not sure this will advance properly and show playback though.

Has there been any talk about making an actual Cue List an Item though? If not is there a reason why this would not work? I feel like this would be a huge help to what could actually be done, and done in a reasonable way with magic sheets.

    Let me know!

    Thanks!
  • JTalley,

What about closing the columns in the PSD that you don't want and then zooming in until the labels are large enough?  You can close columns using control+click and zoom using left mouse click + scroll wheel.

    Something like this?

Edit: Somehow I missed Ueli's post... Apologies!

  • This could work perhaps. Would love to see if we could still add Cue List as an item just like a Cue in Magic Sheet's though. It seems very limiting in what we can create, especially for live control.

Thanks for your help with this, much appreciated!
