Clay Paky Goldenscan 3 Personality querks

A Goldenscan 3 (in 6 ch mode) has its dimmer, shutter, and strobe on Fixture Ch4.  If the Golden scan it set to anything besides Intensity (Form>Shutter/Strobe), then the channel level, as displayed in tombstone view, if meaningless:  I can hit black out, the channel will show that it is out, but the goldenscan is still strobing away.

Maybe there needs to be someway to indicate that an intensity is no longer an intensity?  Maybe display the intensity value in a different color, or not have the intensity go to 0 when blackout or GM is pulled down, when the fixture channel is set to a value that makes it not dim?

BTW, this took my customer a long time to figure out why his goldenscans kept coming on in a cue when the board showed them as intensity 0

  • I have Clay Paky Fixtures also. It has to do with the fact that dowser and strobe are on the same control channel but they are considered different on the console. The reason it is still strobing in a previous cue is because of Automark. See this thread: http://community.etcconnect.com/forums/thread/5847.aspx. Anne gave me a good response for a work around with the Automark feature. If you are just simply trying to get the fixture to stop strobing when you keep hitting intensity out, you will need to home the strobe channel, becuase the console doesnt understand that strobe and intensity are on the same channel. I hope that makes sense to you.
