What can happen to rep fixtures when I update my library?

Question

I've been looking through the library on my Ion and have noticed the update library function wants to update some of my workhorse house fixtures. I mainly busk live, so have many palettes, presets, effects and cues I rely on with those fixtures. When updating, what are the odds of something going horribly wrong? And if they go wrong, will re-loading a previous save solve the issue? And is it possible to just update specific fixtures to leave my house fixtures and all their needed programming alone? And while I'm here,... if I try to clean up my 'favourites' in the library by selecting it through the editor and hitting delete, does it disappear from the library completely or just the favourites list? Thx for any replies!

- the updating happens inside the showfile, so yes, you should be able to go back to a previous version. 
- when you delete a fixture there is a message telling you exactly what will happen. it depends if you built the personality yourself or if it's an original library fixture. you will never delete it from the library, but it might unpatch channels. the confirmation message tells you what'll happen. 
- within a showfile, all channels of that type will be updated. the only way to be selective is when you make a copy of the old version first and repatch to this personality all the channels that should keep the old behaviour. 
- depending on what was updated in a personality, the effects will be different. colors could be off, ranges within a parameter could be off. so yes, there is stuff that could go wrong, that is exactly why the console doesn't apply the updates without asking.
