Is there a specific reason it has to be dmx in? Currently you can use UDP to control the console and OSC is currently under testing. I have several OSC based submaster remotes and even Arduino based hardware submaster systems.
And I don´t have ;-)
But I have DMX-outputting hardware. In my case an Zero88 board - great faders and already available.
Don´t get me wrong I am looking forward to OSC even it´s something new to me and it´ll be some work to get into it.
I also think it´s more progressive. Though it´d be very comfortable to me and maybe others to use DMX-Faderboards.
One of the big issues with DMX in is that the consoles don't have the ports built in and the gateways can take dmx in but they simply merge that data into the network and it goes to the destination gateway not the console.
I´m not that much into Network-Architecture but as ArtNet & (s)ACN are bidirectional (TCP/IP) this would be possible I´d think.
And RDM devices are also working via Network, right?
It is all possible I just haven't seen or heard much movement in that direction. I'm sure it could also be possible to make a piece of hardware that took DMX in and spit out OSC commands. I might give it a go and see what I can come up with.
