Cue Update Query

Im having a problem with Cue updates and Palettes. I see in the Manual that to do a simple cue update, it affects my palettes for any active Multi Parameter fixtures. ie Focus , beam etc change. How can i change update my cue with out this happening.

If you have adjusted any non-intensity data in the cue and want that to be recorded into the cue as a cue-level change rather than changing the palette, use [update] {make absolute} [enter] which will replace the palette data in the cue with the new values but not change the data within the palette(s)?
