Cue based fades stuck at 5 seconds

Hello,

We're trying to build cues on out Element (v2.2.1) and seem to be having an issue with fade in/out (up/down) times (we're all newbies on the Element so please forgive if this is a stupid question). It seems that no mater what amount of time we enter as the up or down time it remains 5 seconds.

For example, if we build a cue using the following command we would expect a 3 second up (fade in) time and a 3 second down (fade out) time. However, both the up (fade in) and down (fade out) are at 5 seconds when we run the cue.

[Record] <Cue> [1] [Time] [3] [Time] [3] [Enter]

My question is, are we recording this cue correctly to have the desired fade in/out times in the cue or is there another way to do this. If we are recording the cue correctly what is wrong and why is the Element doing the fades at only 5 seconds?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Josh

  • Thanks for your quick reply! I see where the issue is. We were selecting [Go To Cue] as opposed to just the [Go] Button. When we hit the [Go] Button the fade time is correct (BTW... thanks for the same up/down time tip).

Now as to my next questions...

    1) Is the 5 second fade when you hit [Go To Cue] a default setting that can be changed?

    2) I noticed that when I hit the [Stop/Back] Button to go to a previous cue that the fade time is also 5 seconds and not the programmed fade time. How do I resolve this?

    3) I have two cues (example 9 and 10) I have cue 9 with an up/down time of 3 seconds and I have cue 10 with an up time of 2 seconds. When I advance to cue 10 from cue 9 by hitting the [Go] Button the 3 second down time of cue 9 is ignored and only the 2 second up time for cue 10 is played. How do I resolve this?

Thanks so much for your help! I truly do appreciate it!

  • Goto Cue and Back time both can be set in Setup > Desk > Manual Control. Back time will always follow this, not the cue time of the target cue. Alternatively use Goto Cue Last Time Enter. Goto Cue time enter will follow the cue time. Goto Cue enter follows the setup time. Goto Cue time 6 enter follows the time specified.
I think there is a basic misunderstanding: the up/down times of cue 10 apply to the fade between 9 and 10. So cue 10's out time says how long cue 9 takes to disappear. Might be confusing at first, but makes a lot of sense because you have the times of one crosshair standing next to each other and not spread over two lines.
  • Awesome! It's all starting to make sense. You guys are so helpful. Thanks again!
