New Owner Questions

Hi everyone.  I'm the proud owner of 2 new Ions, and look forward to getting them installed in our venues over the next week and the summer.

Anne:  I understand that Version 1.4 was due out in the past week, but was pushed back to the end of the month.  Is that still firm, or a best guess?  I'm really waiting for the new manual.

Speaking of the manual:  I hope that the graphic images of the screen shots have improved. Some were so dark as to be not that helpful.  That, and the too many references to the Eos, or keys that don't exist (!) on the console, are slightly aggrevating.

As to some actual questions:

What is the release date for the last bank of subs? ( 1 x 20??)  That's the last thing I'm waiting on.

Labelling channels: this happens by labelling the dimmer, and where multiple outputs are controled by a channel, then the dimmer label from Part 1 is used as the channel label.  Correct?  Is there a way to label channels not through the dimmer list?  Or could I label a blank part #1 and have that show up. . . . (hmmm)?

Is there a way to get the channel label to show up on the "tombstone" screen?

Is there a way to get the dimmer curve label on the patch screen so I don't need to look up what Curve 905 is?

Is there an UP 5% or DOWN 10% key/macro?  I don't use it but some of my operators do.  I like the UP30% of original value, but that math can get painful sometimes.

After the new manual for 1.4 is released, will a list of new pages of future updates be published so we can download only those pages we need, and we don't need to go searching each page to see if its the same?

Dust covers for the fader wings?

Thanks very much.  I love the board and will get a chance to break it in over the next little while.  I also appreciate this forum and the responses I've been seeing in it.

  • Hi Andrew.  Some answers.  1.4 is scheduled for release the end of May.  We look to be on schedule for that.  A notice will be posted here as soon as the code is available for download.

A new version of the Ion manual will be available within the same time frame.  There are major corrections to it from the previous manual release.

v1.4 will support the software for the 1x20 fader wing.  The wing itself will be available for shipment in June.

Labeling for a multipart channel.  If you label the entire channel (from channel view, [n] [label] [xxx] [enter]), that label will be displayed for all parts.  If you label the first part differently from the rest, that label effectively becomes the label for the channel as well as the first part.

We have not yet implemented channel labels in any view other than the channel direct selects.  We are currently discussing options for its display in live/blind views.

Dimmer curve label in patch.... will add to list.  You'll want to maintain the curve number for editing purposes.

The +% and -% functions will be added in 1.4.  Syntax will be [channel number] [at] [+] [Enter] (for +%) or [channel number] [at] [-] [Enter] (for -%).

We are currently making rather broad changes to the manual.  As such, we are not yet in a position to publish just a supplement.   Perhaps 1.5.

Dust covers should be included with all recently shipped fader wings.  We posted something a few weeks back about earlier shipments.  If your wings were shipped before the dust covers were available, you can either talk to your project manager (if you know who that is) or contact phone support.  They can get the covers on order for you.

    Hope this helps!!
