Laptop as console backup

Hello All,

Another new user...hopefully my Ion is in a truck somewhere enroute!

As I understand things, I should be able to use a dongle (I'll get this after I register) to connect my laptop directly to the console. Let's say my console dies. Strike that! Let's say someone else's console dies. Could they, using there laptop and client software, connect into the lighting system and operate as if using the console?

Probably not this easy but I thought I'd ask!

Hi Patrick -
The Client dongle is not a console dongle - a client by definition cannot serve any data (output levels) to the lighting rig. So, personal computers cannot be used as consoles or backups at this time. A Client machine can only connect to another console on the network to show that console's data (or act as another user for data input in multi-user systems). This is true for Eos/Ion systems and Congo systems.
