RFR cases and lanyards

Andrew, actually, there has been no discussion of a soft case for the RFR.   Got a costume shop??  :-)

Not really sure if this is an option or *when* it might be.  When I was at USITT in Houston this spring, in addition to the Ion, I received a couple of good walk thru's with the Eos.  If I remember correctly, the Eos has a phone jack on the back with the possibility to use a cordless phone as a wireless remote.  I want to say that I saw the same port on the back of the Ion, but was told that it wasn't enabled in the software.

Seems like a no-brainer to me!  Or else I'm on crack!

Hi Pat.   Doing a phone remote for Ion is on our list.  Every time it rolls toward the top of the priority list, other issues push it back down a bit.  But, we will do it at some point.

We too have had many a close shave with the RFR hurtling toward the floor. Currently we have attached a lanyard through the convenient holes at the bottom, but I wonder if these could be larger, thus allowing a karibiner to be easily clipped on? We crimped a thin Steel Wire Rope loop on to it to clip to, but this feels like a bit of a bodged job.

Also can I put in a request for a better belt clip? Seems to me that this is the root of the problem as it is kinda loose and not very springy, giving it little hold on my belt!

But hey, at least we can control the rig from the stage/grid/bar etc now!
 

Just to resurrect and old post - I find a rockclimbing chalk bag holds the RFR very nicely.  Put a carribeener on the chalk bag and clip it onto your belt. Keeps the remote close and handy and in a nice soft bag :-)

That is a great idea about the bag.  

This is what I eventually did.  At Mountain Equipment Co-Op (it has online sales, too), I found a bag made by On Sight (in Squamish), called Metolius Super Chalk.  It's got a wide mouth, with velco closure, so no fumbling with drawstring.  It has a connectors at the top Left adn right that fit your standard backpack clips, so it can be worn as a belt.  There are loops at the top centre that a large locking carabiner can fit in to to attach to your belt if your feel so inclince.

The bag also has a small mesh pouch on the front for pencil, **small** notepad, circuit ticker, etc.

I put a split ring into the bottom hole, and some line and a small carabiner make a safety for the unit itself.  My only wish is that is the holes in the RFR frame were at the top, and not the bottom of the unit, so I'm not pushing the remote into the bag ontop of the safety line.

I never did hear back about whether a cover for a PS2 or PSP or whatever would fit it.  And no, I don't have a costume shop.

That is a great idea about the bag.  

You can always have 2 bags?? :-) 

Verdict on PSP cases: They are available in the bargain-bin in many gaming shops! You may have to do some modification to accomodate the aerial, but they may work well.

You may also want to contact Setwear (www.setwear.com) to see if they can come up with something. As the RFR is becoming quite popular, they may see the benefit in designing a case.
