Art-Net from Eos?

David, we actually can output Art-Net.  We haven't made it public .... (well, up until now that is... :-) because it can't yet be configured from within the Eos app itself.   Shortly, we will be able to deal with it from within Patch.  At the moment, there is a back-door method.  Will email you details on this shortly.

Luminaire outputs a single universe of ArtNet control data, which can control devices that receive ArtNet. It can also listen to an ArtNet stream and show levels.

It's more or less a WiFi network version of the ELC FocusHand and FocusBrain products, combined with a simple ArtNet analyser.

However, it does suffer from a few serious limitations due to the ArtNet protocol - for example, ArtNet can *only* have two sources on the network. One would be your lighting console, the other would be the Luminaire product.

This means you can't use two Luminair-equipped iPhones simultaneously with a console, or ever have three iPhones. Once a third source starts up, ArtNet output is basically undefined.

As the others here I'm trying to get an ETC Element console and the Luminair app connected to work as a companions. Luminair is a very nice app which I get to know in another context (we used an ethernet to ArtNet converter back then).

In my use case it doesn't matter that ArtNet isn't able to handle more than two sources as there are only this two sources. 

I succesfully get Elemet and Luminair (resp. the iPad it is running on) in the same network but was unable to get any connection between this two devices.

Has anyone an idea? Do I miss something? Who else is working with Luminair and Element or other Eos consoles?

The Luminair app outputs artnet directly so the Console doesn't see or interact with it in any way.  The luminair app can bring up items on your artnet network.  the Element console can also bring up items on the same network.  The two "consoles" do not see each other.  The interaction is at the gateways.  The gateways are taking in the artnet and converting it to DMX.

Oh that's interesting and I wasn't aware of that. Does the Element console routes the commands through to DMX or isn't that possible? This setup would be fine as I want to use the iPad or iPhone as a simple remote for checking/installing lights. 

The element console will not convert art-net to DMX as far as I know.  If you are using a art-net gateway to get to your DMX fixtures it would be doing the conversion straight from the information that the iPad would be transmitting.  The console can output art-net onto the network but is not going to convert an incoming art-net signal to DMX as far as I know.  If you are using the local DMX ports on the console for your fixtures/dimmers I don't know that the software that you are looking at would work.  

The DMX ports on the back of the console are only 'local' to the console and don't try to receive DMX from the network as that would get very confusing very quickly.
This does mean that the functionality you desire is not possible using Luminair, or indeed any app that sends level data straight onto the network.

As Druuka explained, both of these are effectively separate 'consoles'. They don't talk to each other, they just send DMX level data onto the network so there would need to be a common Network-to-DMX device on the network that can listen to both 'consoles'

You'll need to use the iRFR application - it gives you a host of extra features as well!
