Feature Request - Realtime Data

I was thinking about my workflow and about things that could make it easier.

I wish there was a way to get realtime data from the EOS into a paperwork program. Some kind of API for the EOS family where a piece of software could listen on the network and update itself with realtime changes to things like cue times, labels, etc.

The closest thing we have right now, I think, would be something like Focus Track's importing - and that's all well and good - but think of how awesome it would be if that data was flowing in realtime. What if something like Lightwright was talking to the EOS in realtime and when you had to repatch a fixture in the console, the paperwork was automatically updated?

People could write FileMaker programs to take the data and format it however they want into cuesheets and other paperwork - the possibilities would be endless.

Obviously bi-directional data flow would prove problematic for many reasons, but data flowing out of the EOS would be incredibly useful and powerful.

Is this something that would ever be considered or is it just a pipe dream?

  • mike, OSC sends every command line (not only completed ones but also keystroke by keystroke). in revB of the Show Control User Guide, that was published today and can be downloaded from the Documentation section of the Eos Family product pages, you can see this in the section Implicit OSC Output. upon request Eos can also send its whole patch, cues, presets, ... thru OSC. but as we found out earlier, i don't know what bits and pieces MLA will read at the moment.
