Spreadsheet like views

A lot of views on the Ion are spreadsheet based. The cue lists, in patching (attributes, database, offset), the different pallet views and sub and grouping. What I miss in those views is the ability to alter the content of those views by simple clicking a field, in for instance the cue list view to change timing, delay etc, and in patching alter labels, curves etc.

Could it be made possible to select fields (or cells) in the different spreadsheet views by selecting with mouse (or arrow - select).

  • You've been busy, Mr. Bruggen!  Yep, the feature that you are talking about is what we call "in-cell editing."  Right now, you can call in-cell editing (well, sorta)  in the table and blind spreadsheet view.  Select a channel and press [Select].  You'll now see a change to the command line, and a yellow background to the first parameter of the channel you'd selected.  You can now use your page left, right, up and down keys to navigate through the table view.  When you are finished, just press [Escape], [Live], [Blind], etc (anything that changes modes) to abandon that editing style.

You can't yet just click on a "cell" and go there, however.   It's primarily intended for off-line.  Fully functional in-cell editing will be coming in the near future.

Thanks again!  Keep those cards and letters coming :-)

  • Hi, Anne...I agree this would be a massive improvement to the spreadsheet view - both for offline and the console. In addition, the ability to drag a region of cells (Hog does this) would be very useful. If I had, say, 10 moving lights with an attribute in a palette that I wanted to remove, it would be super intuitive to simply drag highlight the region, and type in the new value or press @ [Enter].

    Is this something under consideration?

  • It is.  We actually expect to begin work on a variety of editing and navigation improvements in the next 60 days.

    Hope that helps.
