Ion and network

Question

Hi, 
 Yesterday i had a problem: 
 I turned on my Ion but i had no signal on my dimmers. I realize that the ethernet switch where my desk is plugged to send artnet to my ELC node was not turned on. I turned it on, but there was always no signal on my dimmers. I had to turn down my desk and turn it on again with the switch turned on to make it work. 
 So my question is: 
 Is it important to turn all the network on (ethernet switch, node, etc,...) before turn on the desk to send artnet? Or is there another problem?

Hi Laurent, 
 
 yes - it is important to have your network up and running BEFORE your Ion boots up into the Eos application, otherwise it won't use the ethernet port. 
 Next time you don't need to boot down the console completely. Exiting to the shell and back will get the network port working fine.
