ION PAN/TILT ENCODERS

The encoders do not seem to be sending fine adjustment movement to my Studio Spot 250s.  When I iris in and try to position on a specific area of the set, the movements are more course.  I patched the default profile from the console.  This was not  problem on my Express console and no settings have been changes on the fixtures themselves.

Also, is it possible to modify HOME settings?  As the Studio Spot 250 iris goes to 100% / 255 / full open when HOME is executed.  This unit has variable iris settings from 128 to 0 [open to close].  After HOME, I have to scroll through the macros OR key IRIS/128/ENTER.  This is a bit of a hassle.  It  would also be helpful to modify pan and tilt in HOME if the units are hung 90 degrees fom each other, or not in line on a batten.  I know I could make a preset with all of the attributes the way I want them, but I like the quick access of the HOME key.

  • Brian,

When you are adjusting pan and tilt on the Ion there are two modes for the encoder state. If you press down on the encoder and release it puts it into Fine mode. Press and release again and your back in course. If this is what your doing and still not working please call Tech Support and they can help you with the problem. I checked the library and there is only one type of Studio Spot 250 so that profile should be the same.

As for modifying Home settings--You obviously cannot do that now but that is coming out in 1.4 so look for it there.

    A slight correction...

There are no fine and course modes on the Ion encoders (only Eos).  Pressing on those encoders will actually place that parameter onto the command line.  But moving the encoders slowly should allow you to increment/decrement the parameter at the finest available level per detent of the wheel.

If you are having problems hitting specific parameters, you can change the encoder sensitivity in the Desk Settings.  Call Tech Support for information on how to do this if you have any questions.

  • How can I swop pan/tilt on the encoders.

In fact, how can I customize all of my encoder pages.  Swoping pages between iris and edge is rather annoying.

Right now there is no way of customizing encoder pages.  We do have the feature on our list to do, but, unfortunately, as of right now it is not scheduled until post 1.5.  In every release, we have examined the placement of the encoders in the various pages.  I believe we intend to adjust some of the current page layout for 1.5 as well.  We will all this in mind before when examining the parameter layout.
