Is this possible?

Hi All,

I know that you ETC folks probably get sick of being compared to 13 year old Strand boards, but this is something I did regularly on the 500's that I need to do now on the EOS.

I would have a circle of 20 source fours. I would create a simple clockwise chase as FX1.  I would also have a simple counterclockwise chase of a slightly different rate as FX2.   With FX on Subs ( which I accept doesn't exist,) I could run each effect independently, or on top of each other, creating a third effect.  As the two base effects have different rates, it seems virtually impossible to program the combined effect from scratch.  How do I replicate this on the EOS?

  • As far as I know at the moment, any given attribute can only have one effect running on it at a time - so I can't think of any way of having 2 separate intensity effects running on the same set of channels at the same time.

    However you could replicate the effect using link-loop cue lists running on faders. Once 1.4 was released the way I would do this would be as follows:

    - Create 2 link-loop cue lists with just the intensity of the channels you're chasing.

    - Set the attributes of each cue list to HTP and I-Master

    - Set both cue lists running on separate playbacks, and use the faders to control the contribution to the output from each cue-list. So you could have the 'forwards' or 'backwards' direction, or a combination of the both.

    I tried this with 5 channels and it works OK - it was quite tedious to punch in the cue lists, but it only took a couple of minutes. Bear in mind that once the cues are recorded, setting or updating the channel up/down times and follow times for all cues can be done very quickly on a single command line, e.g. [Cue] [4][/][1] [Thru] [5] [Time][1][Time][3][Follow][3][Enter].

    David, thanks for the suggestion.  Brent, at the moment, a parameter can only have one effect placed on it at a time.  However, we realize the importance of this and are planning to address it in 1.5 (fall release).
