Ion not responding to numeric keys

Recently we've had a strange situation occurring where for some inexplicable reason in the middle of programming the ion suddenly stops recognizing numeric keys, and sometimes, in the middle of trying to form a command, will display the error message that the spacebar is disabled, use Ctrl-G as if the software were being used off line on a PC. We haven't been able to work out quite what key combination led up to this situation, and the only way to regain control of the keyboard has been to power down and restart the console. Anyone else seen this behaviour? How did you rectify it if so?

Hi Alister,

haven't seen it before. Do you have a USB keyboard connected? Could it be that someone lays something on it pressing Numlock key? Could you try pressing Numlock when that happens again?

We do have the miniature USB keyboard attached, although it's (usually) fixed with velcro along the back edge of the console, above the power connector, out of harms way. I suppose it's possible something could have been laid on it. If it happens again I'll check num lock. Would there be anything in a log file which might help to tie this down?

Definately - send them to Eos at etcconnect dott com - with your question and a link to here and we can see what is causing this. We also need exact date and time when it occurred.

I used to have a small mini keyboard that I plugged into an Element a few years back and it would eventually stop all the keyboards(console and mini keyboard) from functioning. Seemed to do it about 30 min into booting up. I eventually realized that's what it was and tossed it. So it may be something similar. if you unplug the keyboard, does control come back on the console's keyboard?

I'll have to try unplugging it if it happens again. It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally and often enough to be annoying as the only way so far that has restored operation is shutdown and restart.
