Feature Request: Highlight

Hi,

I have a couple of requests for Highlight that I would like to put out for discussion....

1) Highlight should override absolutely everything.  Inhibits, effects, live changes, grand master.

2) Changes made while in highlight should not try to reference back to the highlight preset.  I should not be asked, in the update screen, if I want to update the Highlight preset.  Highlight values should not be seen by the console as manual/active changes to be updated.

3) Just as Highlight "Off" does not need an [Enter], neither should Highlight "On".  It should not be a command line event.

Bug Fix:  Oftentimes I have had parameters get knocked out of their reference if I try to update a preset while still in highlight.

Thanks!

  • regarding 3: i think it needs to be a command line event so it can be amended by a remdim command...
  • I find RemDim to be really annoying, when I'm working in a cue. I hate having my existing manual values potentially lost because I used RemDim, and then pushed any key other than Next or Last.
  • 1) I agree about effects and this may already be SCR'd. Inhib's & GM no and I'm not sure what you mean by live changes.

    2) I tried this the other day and I don't know what you're seeing I can't make update want to update the highlight preset.

    3) I agree, it is there so you can override highlight rem-dim (not the normal rem-dim) but I think most people would like it without need for enter.

The bug I don't think it a highlight problem. I never have this problem apart from picnic errors.

There were some small changes to highlight in 2.3.2 so this is always being tinkered with.
  • Hey, Nick.

    1) While in Highlight, if you make a color or intensity change (the only two things I have in my highlight preset) to a fixture, if you then try to grab a fixture, the Highlight values won't override the manual values. You have to turn highlight off then back on. This happens to me if the designer asks for a change while I'm still in highlight.

    2) To be honest, the very first time I saw a request to update the Highlight Preset happen was two weeks ago and it was during my first show on the latest software. Could be a new thing?

I wish I knew what I was doing that knocked the parameters out of their reference. Its a fairly infrequent event, just enough to be annoying, with no real pattern to which parameter loses its reference.
