Feature request : Mirror mode - Can it display more than what is on the consoles monitor?

We have an original Element (with one DVI port and one VGA port) with two 19" monitors attached. It is running version 2.2 of the software. We also have a laptop running Element Nomad. The laptop and console talk to each other via a dedicated wifi router.

What I'd like to be able to do is have, for example, palette direct selects on one console monitor, a Magic sheet or live table on the consoles second monitor, and the cue list on the laptops monitor. I do not want to control the console from the laptop as I understand this will require me purchasing a dongle. All I'd like to be able to do is use the laptop to view different aspects of whatever the console is doing, without being restricted to only seeing whatever is on the consoles first monitor.

  • Yes I'm aware that as things stand I would need a dongle to do what I'm asking. However a dongle is an expensive way of getting a third monitor as I don't need to control my console from my laptop or use my laptop as a standalone console. I appreciate that ETC has to make money out of their products, but I believe that at the moment mirror mode is too limited to be of much use.

  • Even if they decided to add this, I wouldn't expect it anytime soon so I'd think about other ways to achieve what you want.

If you have a tablet available you could upgrade to version 2.3.X and have your DS on there using OSC.
You could buy bigger monitors and split the screens up.

Mirror mode was always a function for designers (or stage manages) to see the same monitor config as the programmer/op.
I understand the frustration but the function is what it says, a mirror mode.
