Remote Access and Control of ION Console

I am working on an Exhibit and am in need of being able to monitor and control an ION remotely.

I am thinking that I can use a PC with the EOS software and network them. This would allow me to monitor the lighting console via screen share/VPN on the PC.

If I wanted to have control of the console I am assuming that I would need a ETCnomad key in order to change values via the PC.

Questions:

- Can anyone confirm that this will work?

- If I need a key, does it need to have the same amount to DMX addresses as the lighting console (ETC ION 1500, 3 universes)?

Thanks for anyone's help!

Cheers,

Joe

  • If you know how to do the networking and screen sharing and keep others from accessing your console, then it should work. Having a pc with nomad 256 will allow control without mirroring. I think everyone feels funny about connecting ion networking to world at large, but ultimately it's all ip addresses. Also to control things in real time will have Internet lag making led and moving light hard.
