ION 1.4.0 Video Resolution problems

My ION has 2 monitors that claim they want to be set to 1680 x 1050.

Whenever I change the resolution of the monitors (using the [ADVANCE] tab,) the second monitor gets un-enabled.  Whenever I re-enable the 2nd monitor, both monitor's resolution changes back to the default.

  • Are you able to get monitor #1 to operate in 1680x1050 resolution by itself? I own a 1680x1050 monitor at home and had some issues getting drivers to work at that resolution.

    Try this:

Be sure Monitor #1 is on the right of Monitor #2 in the Monitor Arrangement screen. Hit apply. Then change resolutions and hit apply again. Let us know how that works out.

  • Well, if I use the [ADVANCE] tab, and set both monitors as 1680x1050, and enable them with the check box, then they work fine...but when you go back to the Monitor Arrangement screen, it shows Monitor 2 removed (but if I still apply and start ION, both monitors work correctly.)

If I try to bring back monitor 2 in the Monitor Arrangment screen, then the resolution of both monitors go back to default.

So for now, I will just ignore the Monitor Arrangement Screen, and go by what the [Advanced] tab says...

  • Hi Bruce,

Yes, the "simple" monitor arrangement dialog is only accurate for the default resolutions.  The advanced dialog was just recently added as a quick way for users to get custom resolutions working on their own.  Anything you set in the advanced dialog will stick when you hit Apply, so you should be all set.

We plan to clean up the whole monitor arrangement dialog in the future - as it has caused some confusion... okay, a lot of confusion :)
